JACQUELINE WILSON se narodila v Somersetu, ale větší část dětství strávila v Kingstonu v hrabství Surrey. Odmalička toužila stát se spisovatelkou a svůj první "román" napsala v devíti letech. Jak rostla, popsala postupně bezpočet sešitů. Jako dospělá začala pracovat nejprve v jednom nakladatelství, pak strávila dva roky psaním článků do časopisů, až se z ní nakonec stala velice úspěšná spisovatelka. Přestože mezi její nejznámější knihy patří ty dětské, napsala také řadu detektivních románů a her, které odvysílala britská rozhlasová stanice Radio 4. Kromě toho vede kursy kreativního psaní pro děti. Sama je náruživá čtenářka - vlastní stále se rozrůstající sbírku více než 10 000 knih (prý se jí už začaly rozlézat i po koberci!).
Jacqueline Wilsonová za své knížky pro děti již získala řadu ocenění. V současné době žije v Surrey a má jednu dospělou dceru.
